Our Services
When was your last denture check up?
Dental professionals recommend having your dentures checked every 6-12 months, as you would an ordinary dental check-up.
This will ensure there have been no changes to your mouth (including pathological conditions), that can influence the performance of your denture.

Denture Myth 1: Dentures are a quick fix
Fact: Dentures can be made quite quickly, although some materials may take up to 4 weeks from start to finish to manufacture. Denture's can be considered a 'long term' or permanent alternative to tooth loss, although do require ongoing maintenance and care.
Denture Myth #2 : Denture's are just like natural teeth
Fact: Unfortunately there is no substitute for the real thing when it comes to teeth. Denture's are a great alternative to having no teeth, but are by no means a substitute. Eating and talking will never be the same as what it was with natural teeth however humans are incredibly adaptable.
Our Denture Services
As qualified dental prosthetist, we are able to assess, treat, and manage your removable dentures and removable mouthguards for sporting activities. However, some of our dental prosthetist have undertaken some additional studies in order to provide additional services.
Complete Upper and Lower Dentures
A complete upper or lower denture replaces all the teeth in your upper, lower, or both jaws. These dentures are fitted against your gum line and are designed to replace both the tooth structure and the gums that would support the teeth to mimic a natural appearance. These dentures are closely fitted to your gum line and with the aid of your saliva and in some cases denture adhesives, a seal is created that allows the denture to adhere to the gums.
Partial Upper and Lower
Although partial dentures can be fabricated from a range of different materials their primary function is to replace once or more teeth to restore aesthetics and function. These dentures are generally designed to use the remaining teeth as a point of anchorage and can therefore feel more stable than full dentures. At Starkey Smiles we offer a range of different materials and will fabricate a denture best suited for you.
Complete Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures can be very challenging for both the prosthetist and the patient. This fabrication process is very similar to making a full denture, however if you still have all your teeth, we are not able to try-in your immediate denture to simulate how the final denture will feel and look in your mouth and therefore can make the treatment outcome hard to predict. However, if you are already missing most of your teeth and have been recommended to have the remainder removed, we can try-in the already missing teeth and make any adjustments that are required to provide you with a more predictable outcome. Once you have had your teeth extracted and the immediate denture inserted our team will regularly check in to ensure your transition is as smooth as possible.
Partial Immediate Dentures
Partial Immediate dentures are very similar to the traditional partial dentures, however as the name suggests this denture is designed to be inserted immediately after the tooth or teeth have been removed. Acrylic partial immediate dentures are a great temporary solution!
Denture Reline
Denture relines are a great solution to getting the denture fitting properly once again. These relines can be done to both full and partial dentures, with the exception of a few materials. Here at Starkey Smiles, we offer a few different materials that can be used in order to get your denture to fit as it once did!
Denture Repair
Denture breakages do occur, whether it be the teeth, clasps or even the denture itself! Here at Starkey Smiles we understand that being without your denture can be stressful, that is why we offer same day repairs!
Teeth or Clasps Addition
Depending on the material of the denture, these additions can be simple or complex. Denture additions allows us to add teeth and/or clasps to your existing plate. Our in-house laboratory allows us to complete these denture additions within a couple of hours and have the denture back to you as soon as possible!
Immediate Addition to Pre-existing Denture:
Having a tooth or even multiple teeth extracted does not necessarily mean that you need a new denture. Adding teeth to current dentures and having the denture re-inserted immediately after the extraction is becoming more and more popular! This process is also completed by our in-house laboratory and takes a few hours.
Implant Retained Dentures
Gums, surrounding tissues, and/or remaining teeth are used to help stabilise and support the denture. However, there may still be slight movement of the denture, especially when eating sticky foods. Implant retained dentures provide a more rigid form of stability. Although implant retained dentures are more common for full dentures, implant retained partial dentures have also shown great success!
Denture Cleans
Similarly to standard dental check-ups, it is recommended to visit your prosthetist every 6 months to not only have your dentures professionally cleaned but to also ensure the prosthesis is fitting as it should.
